In 11th of August 1979, tragedy happened. In this day Pakhtakor were flying to Minsk but in the air accident happened with a plane. Pilots could not control the plane and all the players died. Nowadays it is a tradition to make competitions for the memory of Pakhtakor-79.

Nowadays you can not imagine Uzbek football without Pakhtakor football club. In many places of the world Pakhtakor is well-known as a symbol of Uzbek football.
